Piscataquis Thriving in Place (TiP) Collaboration's mission is to improve regional services and supports that help adults with chronic health conditions avoid unneccessary hospitalization and other forms of institutional care.

The TiP Collaborative is funded by the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) and facilitated by the Charlotte White Center.  Meg Callaway is the project director and can be reached at (207) 270-2778 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Piscataquis is the oldest and most rural county in the Maine.  It is also the second least healthy county and ranks third for poverty.  With these challenging demographics, many residents stand to benefit from improvements in the regional health and social service infrastructure. The TiP Collaborative is working to improve the integration and coordination of exisiting services and create a sustainable resource and referral network.

Under the leadership of lead organizations, the Collaborative is also working to build capacity in the following areas:

Feel Good Piscataquis! is a regional health and wellness promotion effort led by the Charlotte White Center, Piscataquis Regional YMCA, and Maine Highlands Senior Center.  All three partners have received grant funding to boost the well-being of residents in Piscataquis County through multi-year projects that focus on helping adults with chronic conditions remain safe and well at home, assisting residents of all ages to access healthy food, and providing a vibrant community event center, senior center, and adult day services program at Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft.  Feel Good Piscataquis! stakeholder meetings in 2013 and 2014 focused on how small changes in communities can have a big impact on how well individuals and families can improve their physical and mental wellness, including making fresh, healthy food easier to obtain, increasing access to free and low-cost transportation, doing more to support caregivers, and creating opportunities for intergenerational activity.

The Thriving in Place and Healthy Community projects, led by the Charlotte White Center and PRYMCA, are funded by generous grants from the Maine Health Access Foundation.  The Maine Highlands Senior Center project is supported by the Town of Dover-Foxcroft and funded by individual donations and numerous foundations, including the Next Generation Foundation, The Davis Family Foundation, Bangor Savings Bank and the Betterment Fund.
